MONDO LUCHA! Favorite, Arik Cannon, has recently been named The Official Pabst Blue Ribbon Wrestler. A great personality and a great beer coming together. Cannon joins a legacy of celebrities like Bob Hope who perfectly represent the good time that is the Pabst Lifestyle.

Pezzettino made instant fans of us when we first heard her debut a few years ago and she honored us by gracing our third “OMCD” compilation of local music with a track from the then-forthcoming “Lion” disc.
She stayed on our radar by bringing us baked goodies and by blogging for us from the road. And, of course, by continuing to make some of the freshest, most vibrant music to emerge from Milwaukee in recent years.
When Pezzettino — aka Margaret Stutt — recorded her latest, “Lub Dub,” with LMNTylst, and promptly split for Brooklyn, we were eager to hear this potentially winning collaboration.
Milwaukee Film Festival 2010
She sent us a preview and we were instantly won over by the girl group shoo bops on “Replay,” the Slits / Tom Tom Club-esque “Cold Chick,” the spacey “Intermezzo I” and “II,” the reggae of the title track and the acoustic piano- and guitar-driven slo-jam that is “For You and Your Headaches.”
I even ponied up a very token sum via Kickstarter to help get the record made.
Now that it’s ready, you should go to the release party with Mondo Lucha at Turner Hall on Saturday, Sept. 11. You, too, will be smitted by the fun, smart, sassy, musical journey that is “Lub Dub.”
Oh, did I mention that OnMilwaukee.com’s Jason McDowell designed the sweeeet “Lub Dub” sleeve?
Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets are $18.
American Indie says “Pezzettino’s Margaret Stutt is a force of nature. Her music is ethereal and haunting, bringing a fantastically different, textural sound to what is decidedly not what you would expect to hear coming out of an accordion.”
As she says of her own music, “It’s like unapologetically showing up for a date after jumping from a moving car, with skinned knees and messy hair.”
Her partner in crime on the upcoming collaboration, LUB DUB, The LMNtlyst has made quite the impact on the Midwest hiphop scene in the last couple of years, chief producing music for groups such as KingHellBastard, Perfect Little Monster, and Blackout Sands. Creating flashes of multiple genres from multiple instruments, his sound has no boundaries.
Tickets for the SEPTEMBER 11TH MONDO LUCHA! SPECTACULAR IN MILWAUKEE go on sale this Friday, JULY 9th, at TURNER HALL BALLROOM.
THE SUSPIRIOS…..Rock n Rollers by day, gentlemen thieves by night. Currently incarcerated by international police organization. They negotiated a work release program with the Mondo Lucha Variety Show, and are trying to be saved by Rock N’ Roll.
Our beloved house band at MONDO LUCHA! recorded an epic theme song for all things Mondo that makes Conan the Barbarian look like Kindergarten Cop! …..That’s how epic this song is, trust us.

It was only inevitable that our pals, the THE BREWCITY BRUISERS, need a bigger building to try to contain the big fun that is Roller Derby in Milwaukee. The 2010 Season Championship goes down this Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at the US Cellular Arena in downtown Milwaukee. Such a great old classic building, for some new classic Milwaukee awesomeness.
The Beatles, Elvis, and Frank Sinatra have all played center stage in the arena at one point, so having Milwaukee’s fast flying, heroes of the flat track headline the building on Saturday makes perfect sense to MONDO LUCHA!
Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door for adults; $9 for children 15 or younger. Tickets are available at the Milwaukee Theatre box office, 500 W. Kilbourn Ave. or through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 Doors open at 6 p.m.; the derby starts at 7.
Former MONDO LUCHA! special musical guest MARITIME cover the Depeche Mode song, “Enjoy the Silence” for The Onion AV Club’s series of great bands doing a great cover song.
Also, BIG NEWS for the boys: ……They just signed to Dangerbird Records, home of Silversun Pickups, The Dears, Minus The Bear, and others. Their debut disc for the label (and fourth overall) will be released later this year.
